Position Summary
The Overnight Public Areas / Housekeeping Floor Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the overnight Public Areas, Housekeeping, and/or Environmental Services team to ensure all assigned areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety, and service.
This position plays a key role in planning and executing overnight operations, including deep-cleaning projects, daily assignments, staff allocation, inspections, and follow-up with Management and other shifts. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, dependable leader who can keep the team focused, organized, and accountable while effectively managing changing priorities and staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the overnight Public Areas, Housekeeping, and/or EVS team to ensure daily operational and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise deep-cleaning operations, including scheduling, staffing, prioritization, and follow-up.
- Assign team members to appropriate areas and tasks based on operational needs, workload, and staffing levels.
- Effectively manage call-offs, attendance issues, staffing shortages, and changes in operational priorities.
- Conduct regular inspections of public areas and assigned spaces to ensure cleanliness, appearance, and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Provide hands-on support to the team when needed and lead by example.
- Hold team members accountable for performance, productivity, attendance, safety, and adherence to department standards.
- Communicate operational updates, outstanding issues, and completed work effectively with Management and other shifts.
- Maintain accurate follow-up on deep-cleaning projects, special assignments, deficiencies, and areas requiring additional attention.
- Ensure proper use and care of cleaning equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Address issues proactively and escalate concerns to Management when appropriate.
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of team members.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies and housekeeping/EVS procedures.
- Complete required documentation, reports, schedules, and other administrative tasks.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment throughout the overnight shift.
- Maintain a strong focus on guest service throughout the overnight operation, ensuring that team members understand that cleanliness, professionalism, and positive guest interactions are all part of the overall guest experience.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous experience as a Supervisor or Lead in Public Areas, Environmental Services (EVS), Housekeeping, or a similar hospitality cleaning operation.
- Previous graveyard/overnight shift experience is highly preferred.
- Bilingual is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling, and supervising deep-cleaning operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to keep a team focused, productive, and accountable.
- Ability to effectively manage priorities, call-offs, staffing levels, and employee allocation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect areas and ensure established cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with other shifts and Management.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Hands-on, reliable, organized, and proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
- Strong sense of urgency and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Availability and commitment to work permanently on the overnight (OVN) shift.
- Demonstrated experience promoting a customer-service-focused environment and coaching team members on guest interaction, professionalism, and service standards.
